Scholarship

Through CARA at South Dakota Mines, Beta Delta Mu proudly offers up to two scholarships per school semester to eligible members of Beta Delta Mu.

The scholarship has been established to help Beta Delta Mu women achieve their goal of graduating from South Dakota Mines.  Beta Delta Mu recognizes the challenges and the financial burden of attending classes and remaining active in campus organizations - while balancing living expenses.  This scholarship is intended to reach the women of Beta Delta Mu to ease the financial burden for eligible members.

Scholarship application windows will open with each school semester.  The application window and process will be communicated to Beta Delta Mu members via email.

In general, the scholarship requirements are as follows:
  1. Applicant must be a member of Beta Delta Mu
  2. Applicant must be in good standing with Beta Delta Mu
  3. Applicant must be pursuing an approved degree from South Dakota Mines in a STEM discipline
  4. Applicant must be in good standing with South Dakota Mines, including a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  5. Applicant must write a short essay (500 words or less) addressing the following:
    1. Why the applicant is pursing a science or engineering degree
    2. Why the applicant is the best candidate for the scholarship
    3. Applicant must explain the financial need for the scholarship
  6. Applicant must complete and turn in the scholarship application within the application window by the required deadline.

Scholarship applications will be evaluated on the basis of character, integrity, initiative, conduct, academic achievement, scholastic aptitude, and financial need.  

Contributions to the scholarship fund may be made through CARA:  South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. 
Indicate any donations are to be directed to the Beta Delta Mu scholarship fund.
